Initiating user-involvement in NEANIAS in developing services.

NEANIAS, by taking the principles of open innovation into account is working rapidly on developing the services regarding the Underwater, Atmospheric and Space thematic fields. In the frame of WP5, on defining the business cases, the potential end-users are involved in testing and designing each service of NEANIAS. By involving the end-users, NEANIAS services will be developed in align with the needs of end-users by meeting their specific requirements while testing and integrating their services in their everyday circumstances.

Targeting the energy and environmental monitoring in smart city sectors, NEANIAS end-users are the Eunice Energy Group (EEG) who is currently the sole energy company in Greece that generates and supplies electricity to the customers, exclusively from Renewable Energy Sources, and Ubiwhere, focused on addressing smart city challenges through the continuous development of mobility and environment management innovations. These end-users are already active players in the energy domain; therefore, their participation ensures, that the opportunities of performing viable business on the Open Science and Research Infrastructures landscape are exploited within NEANIAS.

NEANIAS, on creating business innovation cases, is focusing on triggering business innovation around the offerings of NEANIAS core and thematic services, and implement the onboarded energy and smart cities business cases. In order to define business cases, the activity of end-users and NEANIAS service developers were analyzed with a business point of view, where the innovation potential of each service was defined. NEANIAS activity on defining business cases was coordinated by the innomine Group (innomine), a Hungarian company with a solid international experience in managing projects related to innovation and R&D commercialization. The further utilization areas of each technology are being identified right now by innomine, and individual open innovation matchmaking workshops are being set up, where the developers of each service are defining the main steps of involving the end-users in the more appropriate way in the testing of services.

NEANIAS partners are collaborating with the aim of developing and designing the services in align with the user needs, which support them later on in providing a high added value in the open science environment and for the companies, participating in open calls.
