NEANIAS supported the Thessaloniki Climathon 2021.

Thessaloniki, 13-14/11/2021.

NEANIAS supported the Thessaloniki Climathon 2021. This year, the challenge presented was "Urban Energy Transition". At its heart is the need to reduce energy-related CO2 emissions to limit climate change.

The event was organized by EIT Climate-KIC, a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon, climate-resilient society. Supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, it identifies and supports innovation that helps society mitigate and adapt to climate change. EIT Climate-KIC believes that a decarbonised, sustainable economy is not only necessary to prevent catastrophic climate change but presents a wealth of opportunities for business and society.

EIT Climate-KIC brings together partners in the worlds of business, academia, and the public and non-profit sectors to create networks of expertise, through which innovative products, services and systems can be developed, brought to market and scaled-up for impact. Climathon is a city-based programme that offers a clear pathway to action and interaction – an opportunity for cities and citizens to co-create local ideas to shared climate challenges. Climathon brings together students, young and older people, organizations, local stakeholders, the public and private sector, the local authorities in order to tackle a local challenge.

NEANIAS services and the project itself are very aligned with the challenges presented. NEANIAS supported EIT Climate-KIC through dedicated presentations, the technical expertise of the team, and mentoring.
