Infrastructures integration.

The NEANIAS project delivers TRL8 (i.e. system complete and qualified) innovative services in the Underwater, Atmospheric and Space research sectors to contribute to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The NEANIAS infrastructure consists of many (groups of) resources in a few categories. The resources are used primarily for the deployment of the production version of the services. The (mainly) physical resources are within four categories:

  • computing resources
  • storage resources
  • networking resources
  • security entities

The NEANIAS resources  are utilised by the service developers, owners and providers. The project also presents how the NEANIAS infrastructure is utilised focusing on the processes applied. Policies and best practices are applied for a few categories like documentation, code release, integration, packaging, testing, deployment and ticketing.

Regarding the infrastructure resources, the primary resource provider in the project is GARR with its cloud and container platforms, storage and networking resources hosting most (almost all) of the NEANIAS services while other infrastructures are used for development purposes.

The provided resources are used to support the different phases of development and operation of the services as well as to support several core/basic services providing common functionalities for the other ones.

The infrastructure integration, operations and management are handled by the service management system. The NEANIAS SMS relies on FitSM standards and supports the management of users, requests, complaints, etc. The SMS system is continuously under further development to extend and enhance its functionalities.
