NEANIAS project aims to develop and integrate services to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) in the field of Underwater, Atmospheric and Space research. The objective is to share these thematic services with scientific researchers of EOSC communities on these fields.
The NEANIAS service management system, which will support the design, development and delivery of NEANIAS services, has already been defined. The establishment of the NEANIAS service management system will ensure that the entire lifecycle of NEANIAS services is governed by specific rules, which in turn will ensure that the services are developed and operated in a consistent manner. The NEANIAS service model, which will guide the onboarding of NEANIAS services into the European Open Science Ecosystem, has been prepared as well. The NEANIAS service model adopts and extends, when needed, the latest EOSC service model, called EOSC Profiles (v3.0), in order to facilitate the on-boarding of the NEANIAS services to EOSC. Both the service management system and the service model were defined as part of the project’s Deliverable 8.2 which was submitted in January 2021.
A first release of the NEANIAS service catalogue has been made available, as a preparatory step to make NEANIAS thematic services accessible to EOSC users by following the EOSC onboarding process. Following their 1st release, NEANIAS services have been registered to the NEANIAS service catalogue according to the service model described previously.
The implementation of the NEANIAS service management system has been initiated; tools are being configured to support the needs of the service management processes and procedures, and service providers are in the process of adopting them in their service delivery practices.
Starting in the near future, onboarding of the services to EOSC will be initiated, following the maturity level of each service. H2020 projects, Horizon Europe projects and a growing number of national initiatives are expected to evolve the EOSC landscape in the coming years. NEANIAS will therefore stay open for new integration opportunities offered by EOSC.
