On Monday 2 of November 2020, the European Partnership for the Transition to Sustainability (EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece, SDSN Greece and ReSEES AUEB) organized a virtual event “Innovation and technology for a green, digital and fair recovery” with all the representatives of the Greek Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), under the auspices of the Goulandris Museum of Natural History, European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Ministry of Development and Investment.

The aim of the event was the exchange of views between the eight Greek KICs and the beginning of their cooperation with the ambition to accelerate innovation towards the sustainable transition of the country, the joint implementation of Agenda 2030 of the United Nations and the European Green Agreement, as well as to prepare for a sustainable recovery from the pandemic COVID-19.

The eight Greek Knowledge and Innovation Communities are: EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece, EIT Digital Hub Greece, EIT Food Hub Greece, EIT Health Hub Greece, EIT InnoEnergy Hub Greece, EIT Manufacturing Hub Greece, EIT Raw Materials Hub - Regional Center of Greece and EIT Urban Mobility Hub of Greece.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology is a unique initiative of the European Union to promoting innovation across Europe through the cooperation of businesses, the educational community and the to find solutions to pressing global challenges. Through the “Knowledge and Innovation Communities” (KICs), the EIT is developing activities to train researchers in entrepreneurship issues (postgraduate, doctoral and business training programs), development innovative products, services and business models, business creation and development (start-up incubation, technology transfer, research and production link, awards, accelerators, etc.).

ΑΤΗΕΝΑ RC, NEANIAS partner and leader in the EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece  was actively participated in the event by its President and General Director, Yannis Ioannidis, Professor of Informatics & Telecom at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He presented the opportunities of new technological challenges that should lead  innovative solutions and startup ecosystem dealing with Open Science, FAIR policies, data science.
